Parents, Children & ADHD: Getting Families Back on Track

ADHD is a disorder that affects children, parents and families, increasing parental anxiety and straining relationships. When parents recognize the broad impact of ADHD on daily life, including often overlooked effects of executive function issues, they can better attune their parenting styles to their children’s needs.

Dr. Bertin will discuss pertinent research and accessible strategies for parents, including techniques for managing common executive function related difficulties in children, and interventions that consider parenting, behaviorial, educational and medical supports. Importantly Dr. Bertin will review the implications of parents’ chronic stress on health, moment to moment reactivity, problem solving and relationships, to understand that better managing stress and taking care of yourself as a parent benefits your children.
